That's probably just a result of overly literal or faulty translation on the subtitles. I've seen a lot of animes in this site get translated in pretty weird ways, like using "retarded" instead of "silly" or "dumb".

Depends on the country you live in. Students have to clean their school before leaving and also they have to lock their club rooms by evening and leave by 6 everyday. So you can stay late since it's not trespassing

mine's almost the same as you but we wouldnt be locked in, we'd be forced to get out by the cleaners
